– Why so cold? The last refuge of Antarctica’s forests
I find this really compelling for some reason. Maybe my third novel will be set in prehistoric Antarctica.

tumblr video considered harmful
<param name="wmode" value="transparent">
That’s all you need to make most embedded objects behave in the z order. Without it, and without building proper behavior into your player, your object is always on top.
Of course, when you upload a video to tumblr you can’t control what parameters are passed to your object. Actually, there isn’t even an <object> tag;...

JDS Kashima (TV-3508) was in town the other week. I had my zi8 with me, but no still camera or tripod. 1080p without the proprietary and windows only software from kodak is quite wobbly indeed (has to do with the craptastic cmos sensor, I believe). I’ve minimized it as much as possible, but I think I aught to drop down to 720p in future.

I seem to have broken videos
The new look saga continues. I seem to have broken videos on the index pages. It worked on my main workstation, I swear.
Also seen redirect loops on permalink pages. I don’t see how I could have done that. Anybody seeing that behavior on other tumblrs?

Working on a new look
Still working around some kinks, mostly around flash and z-indexes, some of which would be alleviated it I could get preview images, or at least embed sizes, out of the tumblr “theme system.” (it’s appropriate that they don’t call it a template system, because it ain’t that)
Anyway, hope to have it all worked out soonish. But, you know, new Poirot it on tonight,...

“What’s happened to London, dear boy, is more to the point, hmm hhmm.”
I’d like to see the old power station, at least in the distance.

Speaking of System D-128, here’s a depressing dubstep video. Get the audio from stones throw or amazon mp3.

I found this on my hard drive a few years ago, having forgotten where it came from before I ever watched it. I might have posted it before, but even so this is, I believe, the source.
